We've all heard the idioms ascribed to children that are just like their parents:
the apple doesn't fall far from the tree
:::
a chip off the old block
:::
like father like son
Sometimes it's for reasons pertaining to physical appearance. You know, things like sporting the same mustache...
or pirate get-up...
or pretty much being your dad's clone.
And sometimes it's for other reasons. Things like a tender heart, a thoughtful spirit or maybe even a short temper {not that any of our children would get that from their parents, especially their mother...ahem}
Most of us could think of a laundry list of things we get from our parents {good or bad, intentional or not} that would make people say of us "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
But what about our heavenly Father? Would people say of us, "like Father like son"? Scripture tells us to be like Him:
But just as he who called you is holy,
so be holy in all you do;
for it is written,
"Be holy, because I am holy."
1 Peter 1:15-16
Our children are incredibly blessed to have a daddy who loves God with all his heart, mind, soul and strength. A daddy who strives to be like his Heavenly Father. A daddy who is patient and gentle, who humbly teaches and guides. A model of what it means to be a servant leader. An example of a godly husband and father for our boys and our girls. A daddy who loves them unconditionally and tells them so.
And they love him back...
And they love him back...
Happy father's day to my kids' amazing daddy!

Thanks for being a family that makes loving you so natural and rewarding.

[I'm not sure how I feel about a picture of my brother dressed as a pirate on the internet though. I don't think he's going to be happy about that.]
Sean, your brother's Jack Sparrow?! That's awesome!
